Conditions
The Sports Carnival Committee reserves the right to modify or cancel the sport if insufficient nominations are received.
Shield Points
The winner will receive 15,000 points and the runner-up 9.000 points.
Requirements
Umpire will be supplied.
Equipment will be supplied.
Players must dress and have footwear appropriate for the sport.
Rules
The mixed netball competition will be conducted under the rules set down by Netball Australia, except where modified by the following:
General
The competition will consist of a mixed team’s event. Umpires will be provided for each game. Teams will play round robin matches and every team will play every other team.
A team shall consist of seven players on the court at any one time. Positional bibs will be provided where teams are not able to supply their own. A team must have a minimum of two males and a maximum of three males on the court at any one time. The court is divided into thirds. Each team can have no more than one male per third at any one time. Each third is defined as:
> defence third: goal defence and goal keeper, centre third: wing defence, centre and wing attack, and attack third: goal attack and goal shooter.
A game shall consist of two halves of fifteen minutes each. A three minute break at half time.
Points
Points are awarded as follows:
> win 3 pointsÂ
> draw 1 pointÂ
> loss 0 points
Finals
In the event of a forfeit (five mins after scheduled starting time) the team that is available to play shall be awarded the winning points. For the purposes of ‘for and against’ the score line will be ten-nil (10-0).
The top teams in after all matches have been playedwill contest the final. In the event of two or more teams finishing with the same number of points, their positions will be determined on a points for and against basis (points for minus points against), using the results from the preliminary rounds. Should the final be tied at the end of full time, an additional five minutes shall be played. If the scores are still tied play shall continue and the first team to have a two goal margin will be deemed the winner.
Medals
Gold and silver medals will be presented after the final to the players who participated in the final.
