Conditions

The Sports Carnival Committee reserves the right to modify or cancel the sport if insufficient nominations are received.

Shield Points

There are 24,000 shield points to be divided amongst the various competitions and these will be awarded as follows:-:-

Mens and Ladies Singles winners 4,000 points – runners up 2,000 points

Pairs winners 4,000 points – runner up 2,000 points

Weekly Team winner 4,000 points – runner up 2,000 points

Requirements

Bowls will be supplied

Players must score their own game.

Winner of game must report result to the sport coordinator asap after the game.

Players must dress and have footwear appropriate for the sport.

Rules

The lawn bowls competition will be conducted under the rules set down by Bowls Australia,

except where modified by the following:

General

(i) No dead ends. If the jack goes out of play, it shall be placed directly behind the centre 2m mark. If a bowl prevents this, it shall be placed on the nearest available spot on the centre line towards the mat.

(ii) Speed of play must be reasonable and as a courtesy to opponents, players are to be ready to bowl when it is their turn.

(iii) Provided the jack has been delivered, the end may be completed after the “final end” bell.

(iv) Any disputed measures will be resolved by an umpire measuring with a standard tape.

(v) Any disputed length of end will be determined by an umpire (without measuring).

(vi) In Friday’s Finals, (iv) and (v) may not apply subject to the umpire’s discretion.

Open fours event

(i) Matches are 10 ends. However, a bell on 65 minutes indicates that the end in play is the last that may result in a match of less than 10 ends.

(ii) 4 round robin matches played on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

(iii) Quarter and semi-finals played on Thursday afternoon.

(iv) Final played over 12 ends on Friday morning and is not subject to a time limit.

(v) Final eight determined by wins (ties counting for ½ win) then shots differential, total shots and then countback.

(vi) Countback determined by criteria (v) starting with latest match played and working back.

(vii) Any byes receive a win and 10-0 scoreline.

(viii) In limited circumstances and at the discretion of the convener, teams may play with 3 players (and 8 bowls)

Medals

Gold and silver medals will be presented after the event to the winners and runner-ups in each event.
