About the event

Golf covers both morning and afternoon sports. The only other sports that you can select are from the Sunday Only, Twilight and Evening categories.

Conditions

The Sports Carnival Committee reserves the right to modify or cancel the sport if insufficient nominations are received.

Shield Points

There are 24,000 shield points to be divided amongst the various competitions and these will be awarded as follows:-

Daily Winners of each grade 500 points, runners up 250 points

Weekly Individual Nett winner 3,000 points, , runners up 1,500 points

Weekly Individual Gross winner 3,000 points, , runners up 1,500 points

Weekly Team winner 3,000 points, , runners up 1,500 points

Ladies Individual Weekly Nett Winner – 3,000 points, , runners up 1,500 points

Requirements

Each golfer must have their own set of clubs.

Golfers must dress and have footwear appropriate for the sport.

Rules

The competition will be conducted under the rules of golf, as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the United States Golf Association, and as adopted by Golf Australia, in addition to the local rules as laid down by the carnival organising committee and the golf clubs for each day's play.

General

A morning shotgun start shall commence play each day. It is recommended that golfers do not play in another sport adjacent to their Golf timeslot.

To ensure completion of the scheduled games, all golfers must report to the starter on arrival at the course, no later than thirty minutes before the scheduled tee-time.

Format

The competition will consist of the following events:-

> a daily Individual Stableford event over 2 grades,

> a weekly individual stableford event

> a weekly teams event.

> A weekly gross winner

The scoring format for each day's play will be Stableford.

Individual Event

A golfer’s nett score each day will be his/her Stableford score. The winner of the nett event each day will be the player in each grade with the highest total nett stableford score. A golfer’s Gross score will be based on stable score relevant to handicap.  There will be no daily Gross winner.

Team Event

A team comprises a total of four golfers. The team's score will be calculated as the total of their four daily stableford scores.

Countbacks

In the event that two or more scores are tied for the team events, the individual events or the daily competitions the approved Golf Australian countback system will apply to determine the winner and/or runner up.

Handicaps

A Golf Australia handicap shall be used by each player and will be sloped for each day's play to the course rating of the tees of each day. If a player does not possess a Golf Australia handicap, then a recognized social club handicap shall be used. The maximum handicap shall be thirty-six for men and forty-five for women.

Adjustments will be made to the handicaps daily by the golf committee and will be done in accordance with the Golf Australia handicap rules. Players will be advised by the starter at the commencement of the next day's play if their handicap has been adjusted.

It is the player's responsibility to place their handicap on the card and ensure that it is signed by the player and their marker. Unsigned cards may result in disqualification for that day's play.

Prizes

Various prizes will be awarded throughout the competition.

Dress Regulations

All of the golf clubs have specific dress regulations. Details of these specific dress regulations will be provided to the golfers prior to the carnival.

Medals

Gold and silver medals will be presented after the event to the winners and runner-ups in each event. Also the Champion Team and individual will receive medals.
