Darts Rules
The darts competition will be conducted under the rules of the Darts Federation of Australia, except where modified below.
Event
The competition will consist of:

Men’s singles event
-
Ladies’ singles event, and
-
Open doubles event.
Shield Points
The total Shield Points available will be based on the formula contained in the General Rules. The points allocated to each event will be distributed evenly.
Format
The darts competition will be held on a knockout basis over 3 days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday). If required teams/players will be placed into sections.
The finalists from the previous carnival will be seeded and if required each office may be requested to nominate their top seeded player. These players will be placed into the draw and will have priority for first round byes. All other players will be randomly placed in the draw.
All matches in the draw leading up to the semi-final stage will be the best of three legs. All singles games will be 301, open start and double finish.
All doubles games will be 501, open start and double finish. Doubles matches will be played with players in a team taking alternate turns at the board. A team may change the order of play at the commencement of each leg.
To determine the starting order, one player from each team/each player will throw at the bull, and the closest will have the throw in the first leg. In subsequent legs the first throw will alternate.
Finals
For both singles and doubles, semi-finals and finals will be the best of five legs. Semi-finals and finals will be 501, open start and double finish.
Rule Modification
To ensure the flow of play, a team/player will be deemed to have forfeited if they are not ready to play five minutes from when their game is called.

In the event of either player/team having not hit the closing double to finish and both players/teams have had at least five turns of throwing darts at the double, the leg will be decided by closest to the bullseye. In singles they will continue to follow the normal order of throwing. In Pairs one person will nominate from the team to throw.
The five-throw countdown/limit will start when both players/teams have reached a score of 40 or less remaining.
